The Michelin Guide announce the Michelin stars awarded for 2023 in Dubai

The Michelin Guide has announced its new Michelin stars in Dubai for 2023.

It’s only the second year of the awards, as 2022 marked the inaugural ceremony and marked the launch of the French brand in the UAE. At the time it awarded restaurants in both Dubai and Abu Dhabi with Michelin stars, but this time around only the former featured. It’s unclear currently whether Abu Dhabi will have its own event later in the year, or if it’s a case of the city winning no stars this time around.

Currently there are three two Michelin starred restaurants in Dubai, with two positions retained from last year and a third – Tresind Studio – given an upgrade from one star in 2022 to two stars in 2023. The other two Michelin starred restaurants are Il Ristorante by Niko Romito and Stay by Yannick Alleno.

In the one star category there were three new places given out, to Avatara and Moonrise as well as Dinner by Heston Blumenthal. The latter is an opening in Atlantis The Royal, one of the country’s most luxurious new hotels which features a whole host of restaurants and bars from international names.

There were other awards circulated too, like an updated list of places which hold bib gourmands – a nod to restaurants that offer great food at reasonable prices – and green stars, which are handed out for outstanding eco-credentials. Sustainably minded restaurants to hold green stars include last year’s Lowe, a contemporary and stylish Asian-leaning restaurant which champions locally grown produce and live-fire cooking, as well as new entries to the category in Boca and Teible.

The event took place at Atlantis The Royal, where Dubai’s top hospitality names gathered to see the results unveiled live. The 17 Bib Gourmands were awarded earlier in the week, with three new places added to the list in 21 Grams, 3Fils, and Aamara.
