Thiptara offers up a slice of traditional Thai food in the heart of Dubai, making for a captivating combination that will make you want to return time after time.
Set in the Palace Downtown Hotel, a five star hostelry located in the centre of Downtown Dubai, Thiptara caters for locals and tourists alike. The restaurant’s setting is reminiscent of an Asian palace with beautifully upholstered seating, ambient candlelight, an intricately carved ceiling and a pleasing colour scheme of beige and red that brings just enough impact without the space becoming overwhelming. In keeping with the surrounds the dress code is smart casual and there’s a minimum age policy, with only children over eight welcomed to allow for a calm ambiance.
The menu has a certain Bangkok lean to it, showcasing signature flavours and ingredients in a lineup of crowd-pleasing classics and some more unusual dishes. To begin there are family style starters that are designed to enjoy by the whole table, think crispy chicken, prawn and squid wontons, rich chicken stay and little crab cakes served up with fresh cucumber and a warming sweet chilli sauce. If you want to continue the sharing theme then there are banquet menus from AED 375 per person which allow you to enjoy a taste of all the kitchen’s best dishes - with starters, mains and sides, as well as sweets, all catered for.
For those who enjoy knowing that nobody else is going to finish the last bite of their favourite dish, there are also individual serves on offer. From the mains section enjoy a classic veggie green curry, stir fired lobster with garlic and hot basil, or sweet and sour papaya salad. If you manage to leave room for pudding, which we strongly suggest, you’ll be well rewarded with a selection of mouthwatering sweets. We’re talking tempura friend bananas with coconut ice cream, chocolate spring rolls and sweet sticky rice with honeyed mangos.
