Originally from Montreal, Joey Ghazal runs the brasserie with hints of his North American roots to inspire a sense of nostalgia and authenticity. The raw bar is highlight of the dining experience, with freshly shucked oysters galore glistening amongst fresh seasonal seafood delights of Alaskan king crabs, tuna tartare, and halibut ceviche towering on ice.
Crowd-pleasers of the a la carte menu include traditionally made Maine lobster roll, crispy battered cod tacos, and hearty garlicky moules mariniere. All the classics are well made, and the menu features a few novelties such as chargrilled octopus with puttanesca sauce and sunchoke puree. For the seafood aficionados, Neptune’s Folly is a feasting must – three indulgent levels of Snow crab, prawns, oysters, and scallop ceviche make for a wonderful sharing platter.
For a more family-style menu, choose from steaks and pot roasts, steamers and chops that hit all the right notes for a lip-smacking, flavour-packed dinner, and a good wine list to boot. Maine Oyster Bar & Grill is a superb choice for seaside dining without any pretence.
