About

Take a look at Dubai’s azure waters and fine sand beaches and it’s no wonder that the city is often compared to the South of France, and cities like St-Tropez and Monte-Carlo. Dubai encapsulates much of the glamour of Provence also, and with beachfront restaurants such as French Riviera, it also is hoping to get a slice of the culinary action too.

Boasting a stunning beachfront location at Al Qasr, French Riviera is the perfect choice for anyone who wants to enjoy some al fresco Mediterranean cooking in the sunshine. The views of the Arabian Gulf and the Burj Al Arab from the shoreline are spectacular, and the restaurant has indoor and outdoor spaces available.

Chef Kim Joinie-Maurin once worked under Joel Robuchon, and there is some classic Robuchon technique on show in much of the menu, albeit with a modern twist. As often is the case at beachfront restaurants there’s an emphasis on great seafood at French Riviera, with dishes like red tuna crudo with black truffle, fresh grilled octopus and Dover sole with crushed potatoes. The octopus comes alongside classic Robuchon-style potato puree and hazelnut chips - a nod to the famous French chef.

Also on the menu you’ll find dishes like roasted scampi, served in a lasagne made with lime and coconut milk, and there’s a contemporary take on bouillabaisse, served with orecchiette pasta. Desserts include the likes of Madagascan vanilla mille-feuille with brown butter ice cream.

The wine list is extensive, covering a host of old and new world options. There is, of course, a significant collection of French bottles to suit all occasions and meals.
