Brothaus Bakery and Bistro in Dubai brings together two of our favourite things, sweet pastry treats and hearty, comforting dinner dishes.
This casual, laid-back space is located just a stone’s throw from Downtown Dubai, right in the hustle and bustle of the city, providing welcome respite from the heat and crowds outside. Found in the luxury German Steigenberger Hotel, there’s a real sense of elegance about the space which aligns with the brand’s overarching ethos. Inside you’ll find glass counters piled up with beautifully turned out German pastries, cakes and cookies that are perfect for a little breakfast treat, to enjoy with a coffee come the middle of the day or even to take home to enjoy later. Marble elements are offset with clean pine boards and light wooden chairs for an airy, relaxed feeling that will make you want to stay a little longer than you’d planned. Sitting beside the Dubai Water Canal, this bakery cum bistro also has an outdoor terrace which makes the ideal spot to enjoy a cool drink in the heat of the day.
Aside from eating from the bakery section, for breakfast you might find omelettes, shakshuka, porridge and acai bowls among other more indulgent options which include things like buttermilk pancakes with syrup or German toast with cinnamon sugar and vanilla sauce. The lunch and dinner menu has a generous salads section for anyone feeling virtuous, with traditional combinations like a veal sausage salad sitting alongside more international fare in the form of an Asian Nicoise. Hearty comfort food completes the line-up, for something a bit more substantial. Burgers, roast chicken, steaks and schnitzel are just some of the dishes you can expect, while Brothaus’ sharing sausage platter served with mustard, gherkin, pretzels, sauerkraut and fries is a famous mainstay.
The desserts here don’t disappoint, with sweet pears and apples given a European twist with cinnamon sugar and caramelised bananas served with roasted hazelnuts and chocolate sauce.
