Found inside the upmarket Dusit Thani, a luxury hotel which boasts 402 guest rooms and suites, Benjarong is a chic and stylish restaurant serving Thai cuisine.
Benjarong’s dining room is a glamorous and moody space, featuring dark wood panelled walls, padded brown leather chairs and tables lined with gold gilt. There are a few nods to classic Thai interior design trends too, thanks to Thai-style lanterns and traditional design motifs from the country.
Open for lunch and dinner, with a short break in-between, Benjarong’s menu is a mixture of classic and contemporary dishes which are inspired by the cuisine of Thailand. Starters include dishes such as homemade chicken satay served with pickled cucumber and prawn spring rolls dipped in plum sauce, while if you’re looking to share with your dining companion, you can opt for a mixed platter: an array of veggie rolls, deep-fried spring rolls, fish cakes and chicken satay skewers.
When it comes to main courses, Benjarong’s signature dish is its wok fried chicken, which comes highly recommended by the kitchen’s team of chefs and is served with capsicsums, dried chilli and cashew nuts. Otherwise, you can enjoy a selection of salads and soups, alongside seafood specialities such as soft shell crab with black pepper sauce or steamed seabass pepped up with ginger and spring onion. Naturally, a classic pad Thai also appears on the menu, while vegetarians aren’t an afterthought either, thanks to a whole host of meat-free dishes; pick from the likes of wok fried young Chinese kale with oyster sauce, or tofu slathered with a spicy chilli paste.
After dinner, you can move through to Benjarong’s cosy lounge, which is a separate space away from the main dining room. The lounge offers a designated indoor smoking area too, for those who want to light up without leaving the room.
